Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr Mohammad Faisal, is scheduled to relinquish his duties and return to Islamabad by April 27. He took on the role in August 2023, overseeing diplomatic relations during a complex period involving political and diaspora matters.

In a significant development, Tipu Usman has been nominated as Dr Faisal’s successor. Currently serving as Chief of Protocol to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Tipu Usman’s appointment has already received formal agrément from British authorities, and his posting is expected to begin shortly.

Dr Faisal is a veteran career diplomat with a distinguished record. Before his current assignment, he served as Pakistan’s ambassador to Germany and was the Foreign Office spokesperson. He gained widespread recognition during last year’s brief India-Pakistan conflict, earning praise for his appearances on , Sky News, and other international media outlets where he effectively articulated Pakistan’s stance.

Notably, Dr Faisal was also a prominent figure in the UK media defending Pakistan against allegations related to the Pahalgaam attacks, further establishing his reputation as a skilled diplomat and spokesperson.
