KP Enforces Mandatory Registration for Tour Guides and Operators

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has introduced a new regulation requiring all tour guides and tour operators to register and obtain official licenses before engaging in any tourism-related activities. This move aims to regulate the tourism sector more effectively and ensure quality services for visitors across the province.

Under the provisions of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Act 2019, the provincial tourism department has made it compulsory for individuals and companies involved in guiding tourists or organizing tours to secure proper authorization. Applicants must provide detailed registration information, including tax documentation and other necessary paperwork, to qualify for licensing.

In a significant development, tour operators are now obligated to submit their tour itineraries for prior approval by the designated authorities. Meanwhile, tour guides must keep accurate records of tourists during excursions to maintain transparency and accountability. These measures are designed to enhance the safety and experience of tourists visiting KP’s diverse attractions.

Officials have issued stern warnings that unlicensed guides and operators found conducting business at tourist destinations will face strict penalties. The new rules stipulate fines reaching up to 40,000 Pakistani rupees per individual for violations, underscoring the government’s commitment to enforcing compliance and promoting a professional tourism environment throughout the region.
