Interior Minister Naqvi Demands FIA Transparency and Reform in Karachi

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a firm directive demanding complete transparency within the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), pledging a thorough institutional overhaul by December 31. This announcement came during his high-profile visit to the FIA Karachi Zone on Friday, where he was accompanied by Director General Dr. Usman Anwar.

During the visit, Naqvi conducted an extensive review of the department’s operations, signaling a decisive move towards fostering a merit-based and accountable culture within the agency. The Minister and DG Anwar were briefed in detail by the Director of FIA Karachi Zone and the Additional Director General (South) on ongoing investigations and critical cases.

They emphasized that addressing public grievances promptly is now a mandatory performance indicator rather than an optional task. Naqvi highlighted the government’s ambition to transform the FIA into the country’s most dependable institution, assuring that honest officers will be fully protected and assured job security, while corruption will be met with zero tolerance.

To reinforce this stance, a new system of rewards and penalties will be introduced to keep justice at the forefront of the agency’s mission. Looking ahead, the Interior Minister outlined plans to evolve the FIA into a modern, dynamic, and efficient organization by the end of the year.

This transformation will not only focus on investigative processes but also prioritize the welfare of FIA personnel. DG Usman Anwar confirmed that the promotion framework is being revamped to enhance career development opportunities. Additionally, new initiatives for medical care and regular health check-ups for staff members were announced.

Anwar further stated that future resource allocations will be closely linked to the agency’s performance, encouraging departments to resolve public issues with greater transparency and efficiency. This comprehensive reform agenda aims to establish a more accountable and responsive FIA in Karachi and beyond.
