Imran Khan Meets Wife at Adiala Jail Amid Rising WhatsApp Hacks

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan met with his wife, Bushra Bibi, at Adiala Jail on Tuesday. The meeting, held in the jail’s conference room, lasted over 30 minutes. During the visit, the couple exchanged inquiries about each other’s health, prison officials confirmed.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, expressed frustration over being denied a scheduled visit with her brother. She remarked on the lack of authority, stating, “everyone is a slave” and “no one has any power.”

In a related development, the WhatsApp account of PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was compromised in a cyber fraud incident. The hackers used his identity to solicit money from contacts in his list. Barrister Gohar revealed that his WhatsApp was hacked and deleted from his phone around 11 a.m. He warned the public to disregard any money requests originating from his number.

He has reported the breach to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing and cautioned that his number remains active and vulnerable to further misuse. Barrister Gohar urged authorities to take prompt action to prevent additional exploitation of his data.

This incident highlights a growing trend of WhatsApp account hijackings in Pakistan. Hundreds of accounts have been compromised recently, prompting national warnings. In January, the National Cyber Emergency Response Team issued an advisory about the surge, noting that attackers primarily use social engineering tactics rather than technical vulnerabilities.

Common methods include deceiving users into sharing one-time passcodes (OTPs), manipulating call-forwarding settings, sending phishing links, and distributing malicious QR codes that link victims’ accounts to attackers’ devices. Once hijacked, these accounts are exploited to impersonate victims, defraud contacts, access private messages, and spread harmful content.
