TTAP Calls for Parliamentary Consent on All Foreign Deals at Islamabad Iftar Gathering

In a significant political gathering held on Monday evening, the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aaeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) organized an Iftar party at the residence of Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly. The event brought together prominent political figures from across the country to discuss pressing national issues as the holy month of Ramadan continues. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of urgency regarding Pakistan’s current political and economic landscape.

The gathering included influential personalities such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Senate Opposition Leader Raja Nasir Abbas, TTAP Vice-Chairman Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, spokesman Hussain Ahmed Yousufzai, and core committee member Khalid Yosuf Chaudhry. Their presence underscored the importance of the meeting, which aimed to foster unity among opposition parties and address the challenges facing the nation.

During the discussions, the attendees extensively analyzed the country’s political stability and economic difficulties, highlighting the need for a collective approach to governance. A key point of concern was the escalating conflict involving the United States and Israel against Iran, described by the alliance as an aggressive stance against a fellow Islamic nation. The leadership expressed deep apprehension about the potential repercussions of this regional tension on Pakistan’s security and diplomatic relations.

In light of these developments, the opposition leaders strongly urged the government to involve Parliament more actively in decision-making processes, especially those related to foreign policy, economic strategies, and national security. They emphasized that any agreements or treaties signed with foreign entities should not bypass parliamentary scrutiny. This demand reflects a broader call for transparency and democratic oversight in matters that have far-reaching consequences for the country.

Concluding the meeting, the TTAP leadership reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the supremacy of Parliament and safeguarding democratic principles. They stressed that unity among political factions is essential to navigate Pakistan through its current challenges and to ensure that the voices of elected representatives remain central in shaping the nation’s future. The Iftar gathering thus served not only as a moment of communal harmony but also as a platform for reinforcing democratic accountability in Pakistan’s governance.
