Prime Minister Directs Intelligence Bureau to Oversee Nationwide Fuel Conservation Efforts

The Prime Minister has entrusted the Intelligence Bureau (IB) with a critical responsibility to oversee and ensure the effective implementation of fuel conservation and cost-efficiency measures throughout various federal ministries and government institutions. This directive comes as part of a broader strategy to tackle the ongoing fuel shortage challenges facing the country.

In a formal notification issued recently, the IB has been mandated to conduct thorough audits of all fuel-saving initiatives currently in place. These audits will assess the effectiveness of policies aimed at reducing fuel consumption and improving overall efficiency. The bureau is required to compile detailed weekly progress reports and submit them directly to the Prime Minister, providing a clear picture of how these measures are being enforced and their impact on fuel usage.

Beyond routine monitoring, the IB’s role extends to reviewing the steps taken by federal entities to manage and mitigate the fuel scarcity situation. This includes verifying compliance with established fuel-saving policies, such as restrictions on official vehicle usage and the implementation of a four-day workweek in applicable departments. These measures are designed to curb unnecessary fuel expenditure and promote more sustainable operational practices within government offices.

Moreover, the Intelligence Bureau is expected to take a proactive stance by recommending additional strategies and interventions that could further enhance fuel efficiency and minimize wastage. This forward-looking approach aims to adapt to evolving circumstances and ensure that the government’s response remains effective and comprehensive.

Authorities have been explicitly warned that any failure to adhere to these directives will not be tolerated. Federal ministries and institutions found in violation of the fuel-saving protocols will face strict consequences. In particular, officials who misuse vehicles belonging to subordinate organizations without proper authorization will be subject to disciplinary action, underscoring the seriousness with which the government views this initiative.

This move highlights the government’s commitment to addressing the fuel crisis through coordinated oversight and accountability. By involving the Intelligence Bureau, the Prime Minister aims to ensure that fuel conservation efforts are not only implemented but also rigorously monitored to achieve tangible results in reducing the country’s fuel consumption and managing scarce resources more effectively.
