Karachi Trader Appeals for Justice After Son Falsely Accused in Police Cases

In a troubling development from Karachi, a local trader has come forward with serious allegations against his in-law, accusing him of manipulating police authorities to harass his family and falsely implicate his son in criminal cases. The trader, who operates a business in the bustling Saddar Market area, claims that his son, Mohammad Tariq, who is also involved in trading, was unlawfully taken into police custody from their home in Manghopir during the early hours of January 27.

The incident reportedly unfolded around 4:00 am when a police mobile unit arrived at their residence without prior notice or explanation. The son was taken away abruptly, leaving the family in distress and confusion. When the trader later visited the police station to seek clarity, he was met with vague responses, with officers dismissing the detention as a “misunderstanding.” This lack of transparency has only deepened the family’s concerns about the legitimacy of the police action.

Adding to their ordeal, the trader revealed that on February 27, a new First Information Report (FIR) was filed against his son. He strongly insists that this FIR is baseless and part of an ongoing campaign to wrongfully accuse his son through fabricated charges. Both father and son maintain that they were present at their shop in Saddar Market on the dates in question, a fact that can be corroborated through available evidence and witnesses.

The trader has openly accused his in-law of orchestrating these actions by exerting undue influence over the police, aiming to damage his family’s reputation and business. In light of these serious allegations, he has made a heartfelt appeal to senior law enforcement officials in Karachi, including the Inspector General of Sindh and the Additional Inspector General, urging them to conduct a thorough investigation. He seeks not only justice for his son but also accountability for those involved in filing what he describes as false cases.

This case comes amid growing public concern over police conduct in Karachi. Recently, two officers from Aziz Bhatti Police Station were suspended following an incident where they allegedly harassed and threatened employees of a biryani restaurant in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The officers reportedly demanded free food for their police station, and when the staff refused, tensions escalated. A video capturing the confrontation went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage and calls for stricter oversight of police behavior.

The footage showed one officer threatening to confiscate cooking pots from the restaurant if free biryani was not provided, highlighting what many citizens describe as increasing instances of rogue behavior within the Karachi police force. This incident, alongside the trader’s allegations, underscores the urgent need for reforms and greater accountability within law enforcement agencies to restore public trust.

As the trader awaits a response from the authorities, his case sheds light on the challenges faced by ordinary citizens in Karachi who feel vulnerable to misuse of power and false accusations. The demand for justice in this matter resonates with many who seek a fair and transparent legal system where the rights of individuals are protected against wrongful persecution.
