PPP Raises Alarm Over Soaring Petrol Prices Ahead of Eid Festivities

As the Eid holidays approach, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has expressed serious concerns regarding the sharp increase in petrol prices, which threatens to cast a shadow over the festive season. Sharmila Farooqui, a prominent PPP Member of the National Assembly (MNA), has strongly urged the government to reconsider its economic policies and provide much-needed relief to the general public. She emphasized that the recent surge in petroleum product prices is unprecedented and could severely impact the financial well-being of ordinary citizens.

In a detailed statement released on Saturday from Karachi, Sharmila Farooqui highlighted the detrimental effects of the petrol price hike on the common man’s ability to celebrate Eid with joy. She pointed out that a staggering Rs 55 increase in petrol prices is not just a number on paper but a direct blow to household budgets across the country. her, this rise will inevitably lead to higher costs for essential commodities such as vegetables, flour, and transportation, thereby escalating the overall inflationary pressure on families.

Farooqui further criticized the government for focusing solely on economic figures and statistics rather than understanding the harsh realities faced by everyday Pakistanis. She stressed that the ripple effect of increased fuel prices extends far beyond just transportation costs, reaching into every kitchen and household. The burden of inflation, she argued, is unfairly being shifted onto the shoulders of the common man, who is already struggling with rising living expenses.

Moreover, the PPP leader underscored that a healthy economy depends not only on numerical data but also on the trust and confidence of the people. She warned that the recent petrol price hike could erode public trust and directly impact the financial stability of millions. Farooqui called upon the government to take immediate and concrete steps to alleviate the economic hardships faced by the masses, especially during this important religious festival when families traditionally come together to celebrate.

In conclusion, Sharmila Farooqui appealed for a more compassionate approach in economic decision-making, urging authorities to prioritize the welfare of the people over rigid fiscal policies. With Eid just around the corner, she emphasized that ensuring affordable fuel prices is crucial to preserving the spirit of the festival and preventing further economic distress among vulnerable segments of society.
