NADRA biometric verification mandatory for Zu Peshawar cards

All Zu Cards used for travel on the Zu Peshawar system must now be registered with biometric verification by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The deadline is December 31, 2026. From January 1, 2027, unregistered cards will be barred and cannot be used for travel.

TransPeshawar said registration is available at ticket desks at every BRT station during operating hours. Passengers must bring their original CNIC and Zu Card, and station staff will record the details, carry out biometric verification and complete the process.

Why the authority is requiring registration

Chief Executive Officer Dr Syed Murtaza Asghar Bukhari said the initiative aims to strengthen system security through passenger identity verification. He said it supports safer, smoother and more organised travel. He urged passengers to register early to avoid disruption and congestion at counters in the final days.

Rules for child passengers and foreign travellers

Passengers under eighteen may register using either a B Form or the CNIC of a parent or legal guardian. A B Form registration requires the child’s Zu Card, the B Form and biometric verification. Registration against a parent’s or guardian’s CNIC requires the child’s Zu Card, the adult’s original CNIC and the parent or guardian present for verification.

Foreign travellers can use a Single Journey Ticket or the Zu App to travel on Zu Peshawar. The registration fee for the Zu Card is ten rupees.
