Another alleged fraud case has emerged against Noman, the arrested suspect in the case linked to the death of Laiba Ijaz, a gold medallist from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). Investigation sources said investigators have uncovered details of a separate fraud case registered against him in Mansehra.
Mansehra case over fake government job letters
According to sources, Noman is wanted in a case registered at a Mansehra police station. He and alleged accomplices are accused of defrauding a family of Rs8.5 million by promising government jobs for six children.
The suspects allegedly gave the family appointment letters for government posts. When the family verified them, all the letters were found to be forged, sources said. The family then registered a case, after which Noman reportedly went into hiding and a court declared him a proclaimed offender.
The family has now approached Islamabad police with the alleged forged documents, sources added.
Alleged visa fraud targeting Laiba Ijaz
Investigation sources said Noman had reportedly confessed to defrauding Laiba in connection with her US student visa. Investigators say he first met her in February this year through his friend, Aiza Fatima, with whom Laiba had started an online tuck shop that later failed.
Sources said Laiba later asked Aiza for help obtaining a US visa. Investigators allege that Noman contacted Laiba through a second phone number while posing as Aiza. He also allegedly set up a fake Gmail account in the name of Aiza’s brother, Azhar, who lives in the United States, and used the two fraudulent accounts to communicate with her.
AI-prepared documents and forensic examination
Investigators further allege that Noman used artificial intelligence to prepare fake documents for Laiba’s student visa application. Police have obtained part of the suspect’s chat history, and his mobile phone has been sent for forensic examination to gather more evidence, sources said.
