Two Pakistan Army Aviation pilots lost their lives on Monday after a Mushshak training aircraft went down near Nawan Killi in Quetta district, the military’s media wing said. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the crash happened around midday on 12 October 2026 and was caused by a technical fault.
The ISPR identified the victims as Major Husnain Shehzad Humayun, an instructor pilot, and Captain Abdul Samad, who was flying as a student pilot.
Leaders offer condolences to bereaved families
President Asif Ali Zardari said he was saddened by the deaths of the two pilots and conveyed his condolences to their families. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also voiced sorrow over the crash, offering sympathy to the relatives left behind.
In a separate statement, the prime minister prayed that the pilots’ ranks be elevated and that they be granted mercy. He also asked that their families be given the strength to cope with the loss.
Earlier military aviation accidents this year
The ISPR also referred to a June crash in which a Mi-17 helicopter of Pakistan Army Aviation came down near Muzaffarabad during take-off. Earlier that same month, a Pakistan Air Force aircraft crashed during a routine training flight in Mardan.
