The Counter Terrorism Department said three alleged militants linked to the defunct Balochistan Liberation Army and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were arrested in Karachi. The suspects were detained from the Lasbela roundabout and Purani Sabzi Mandi areas during two joint operations with a federal intelligence agency.
Officers also recovered two hand grenades and an improvised explosive device from the suspects.
Grenades and explosive seized in two raids
In the first raid, two men identified as Sajid Yousuf and Shaukat Ali were held over alleged BLA links, and two grenades were found with them. The second raid led to the arrest of a man with alleged TTP ties, named as Dad Muhammad alias Adil, from whom a locally made IED was seized.
Alleged plots against security targets
A CTD spokesman said the BLA suspects were accused of carrying out targeted killings and attacks on Frontier Corps vehicles. He added that they stayed in regular contact with their commander and allegedly planned strikes on sensitive sites and security bodies.
The spokesman said the TTP suspect had trained in Afghanistan and was also allegedly preparing an attack on sensitive locations. The department has registered three cases against the detained men.
