The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has clarified that banks have no role in approving or updating the Proof of Life Certificate (POLC) linked to pension payments.
The clarification came during a NADRA podcast, where a question was raised about what pensioners should do if a bank or pension controller does not accept or update their certificate. A NADRA spokesperson said the process takes place directly between the pension recipient and the institution responsible for disbursing the pension. The spokesperson added that some individuals had raised concerns about why their certificates were being rejected or left unupdated.
Pensioners should apply directly through NADRA’s mobile app
NADRA said banks have been excluded from the entire Proof of Life Certificate system. Because the bank remains separate from the process, pensioners do not need to submit their applications through their banks.
According to NADRA, pensioners can apply directly to the authority or department that issues their pensions through the NADRA mobile application. The authority has urged pensioners not to hold banks responsible for certificate matters, as the application and transmission of the certificate to the relevant institution are handled directly through the app.
