In a significant development along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan’s security forces have inflicted substantial damage on the Afghan Taliban during the ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq. The operation has so far resulted in the deaths of 331 Taliban combatants, with more than 500 others wounded, marking a decisive blow to the militant group’s capabilities in the region.
Minister Tarar revealed that the Pakistani forces have successfully destroyed 104 Taliban check posts, while capturing an additional 22 positions. This strategic gain not only disrupts the Taliban’s control over key border areas but also enhances Pakistan’s security posture along this volatile frontier. Furthermore, the operation has seen the destruction of approximately 163 tanks and armed vehicles belonging to the Taliban, significantly degrading their mobility and firepower.
Adding to the ground offensive, Pakistani air forces have targeted around 37 locations across Afghanistan, delivering precise strikes that have further weakened Taliban infrastructure and operational bases. These coordinated air and ground efforts underscore the comprehensive nature of Pakistan’s response to recent hostilities.
Earlier, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, provided a somber update on the toll faced by Pakistani forces. He confirmed that 12 soldiers had made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty during intense clashes, while 27 others sustained injuries. These losses highlight the challenging and dangerous conditions faced by Pakistan’s military personnel as they work to secure the nation’s borders.
The escalation in violence was triggered by a series of unprovoked attacks launched by the Afghan Taliban on multiple Pakistani border locations on the night of February 27. These aggressive moves have further strained relations between the two neighboring countries and prompted a swift and forceful response from Pakistan’s armed forces.
Speaking about the operation, Minister Tarar emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty with unwavering resolve. He noted that the armed forces responded with professionalism and strength, effectively neutralizing the Taliban’s offensive and forcing them into a defensive posture. The minister also criticized the Taliban’s attempts to spread misinformation on social media, describing these efforts as desperate attempts to mask their setbacks.
“Pakistan’s military has once again proven that any act of aggression against the country will be met with a firm and decisive response,” Tarar asserted. He expressed confidence in the armed forces’ ability to safeguard the nation and praised their dedication and courage during this critical operation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended his commendations to the military leadership, particularly Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, for their timely and courageous actions. The Prime Minister lauded the preparedness and professionalism demonstrated by the troops, which have been instrumental in maintaining Pakistan’s national security and territorial integrity.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s stance on cross-border militancy, Tarar made it clear that the use of Afghan soil as a launching pad for attacks against Pakistan is unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He warned that terrorists operating from Afghanistan who continue to target Pakistan will face a robust and decisive response from the country’s armed forces.
As Operation Ghazab lil-Haq continues, it remains evident that Pakistan is determined to protect its borders and citizens from external threats. The operation reflects a broader strategy to counter militancy and ensure lasting peace and stability in the region, despite the complex geopolitical challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.
