Seven Injured as Terrorists Launch Coordinated Attacks on Two Peshawar Police Stations

In a disturbing escalation of violence in Peshawar, terrorists launched coordinated assaults on two police stations late Friday night, resulting in injuries to seven individuals, including one police officer. The attacks targeted the Badaber and Mattani police stations, both critical law enforcement hubs in the region. Despite the intensity of the assaults, authorities confirmed that there were no fatalities or significant damage to property.

The first attack occurred at the Badaber Police Station, where unidentified assailants hurled a hand grenade, injuring Constable Faisal. Emergency responders quickly transported the wounded officer to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical care. The use of a grenade highlights the dangerous tactics employed by militants aiming to destabilize the area and intimidate security forces.

Shortly thereafter, militants launched a heavy weapons assault on the Mattani Police Station. This attack resulted in injuries to six civilians who were in the vicinity at the time. The police personnel stationed there displayed remarkable courage and resilience, mounting a swift and effective counteroffensive that forced the attackers to retreat. Their prompt and decisive response prevented what could have been a far more devastating outcome.

Senior police officials, including the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), emphasized that the security forces remain vigilant and committed to maintaining law and order despite these brazen attacks. They reassured the public that no loss of life or property damage occurred during these incidents, underscoring the effectiveness of the police response. The CCPO also highlighted that officers are continuing their duties with unwavering dedication to protect citizens from such threats.

These attacks come amid ongoing efforts by security agencies to curb militant activities in Peshawar and the broader Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. The city has faced periodic threats from terrorist groups aiming to undermine peace and stability. The recent incidents serve as a stark reminder of the persistent security challenges faced by law enforcement and the importance of sustained vigilance and community cooperation in counterterrorism operations.

In the wake of these events, police have increased their presence and patrols across vulnerable areas to deter further attacks and reassure the public. Authorities continue to investigate the incidents to identify and apprehend those responsible. Meanwhile, local residents have expressed both concern and gratitude for the bravery shown by the police in defending their communities against such violent threats.
