Scheduled Power Outages in Islamabad and Surrounding Areas on Saturday for Maintenance Work

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has announced a series of planned power outages affecting multiple localities within Islamabad and its surrounding areas on Saturday. These interruptions are necessary to carry out vital maintenance and infrastructure development work aimed at improving the overall reliability and quality of the electricity supply in the region.

the official schedule released by IESCO, residents and businesses in Rawalpindi Cantt. Circle will experience power cuts from 6:00 am to 11:00 am. The affected feeders include Dk. Farman Ali and Tipu Road, which serve a significant portion of the local population. This temporary suspension is expected to facilitate essential upgrades and repairs to the electrical network in these areas.

Meanwhile, in the Attock Circle, power will be unavailable from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm in several sectors including Fawara Chowk, Tanaza Dam, Gul Muhammad, Gagan, Laniwala, City-II, Sajjad Shaheed, and Nescom feeders. Additionally, a longer outage is planned from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm for the Khan Abad, Small Industrial Estate, Pour Miana, Lala Rukh, Gudwal-I, Gudwal-II, Garhi Afghan, Shahia, and Munir Abad feeders. These measures are part of a broader effort to enhance the electrical infrastructure and prevent future disruptions.

In the GSO Circle, power interruptions will be more extensive, with supply cut off from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm along the 132-KV Chakwal-Bhagwal-Talagang and 132-KV Kahuta City-Palandri transmission lines. Furthermore, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, the 132KV transmission line near new Wah Bahter More and adjacent areas will also be affected. These outages are critical for the maintenance of high-voltage transmission lines that form the backbone of the region’s power distribution system.

IESCO has expressed regret for any inconvenience these scheduled outages may cause to residents and businesses. The company has assured the public that electricity will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed, potentially ahead of the planned schedule if conditions allow. Customers are advised to make necessary arrangements and prepare for temporary power disruptions during these hours.

In a related development, IESCO recently intensified its efforts to combat electricity theft in the region. During a large-scale crackdown conducted in collaboration with local police authorities, the company apprehended nearly 5,929 individuals involved in illegal power connections. This operation also resulted in the arrest of 2,950 suspects and the imposition of fines amounting to Rs. 503.4 million. These stringent measures reflect IESCO’s commitment to curbing power theft, which significantly impacts the efficiency and financial health of the electricity supply system.

Such enforcement actions, combined with ongoing infrastructure improvements, are part of IESCO’s broader strategy to ensure a more stable and sustainable power supply for Islamabad and its neighboring districts. The company continues to urge consumers to report any suspicious activities and cooperate with authorities to help maintain the integrity of the electrical network.
