Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari have jointly issued resolute declarations underscoring Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial boundaries, and citizens. These statements come amid a surge in cross-border hostilities involving Afghan Taliban forces, which have heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier. The government’s stern response reflects a broader determination to counter any threats to national security with decisive action.

Following a series of unprovoked incursions by Taliban militants, Pakistan’s armed forces launched a comprehensive military campaign named Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq. This operation was initiated after Taliban forces allegedly carried out aggressive maneuvers along the border, prompting a swift and coordinated response from Pakistan’s military. Security officials confirmed that the operation successfully targeted and dismantled several strategic Taliban positions, significantly undermining their operational capabilities in the region.

Reports indicate that in the aftermath of Pakistan’s offensive, Taliban fighters were seen raising white flags at multiple locations, signaling their weakened stance. The military employed a combination of artillery strikes and drone technology, including quadcopters, to precisely hit Taliban strongholds. This tactical approach inflicted substantial damage on the militants’ defenses, thereby reducing their ability to launch further attacks. Military spokesperson Major General Tariq Tarar highlighted the effectiveness of the operation, stating that it was a well-coordinated effort that resulted in heavy Taliban casualties, with at least 133 militants killed and over 200 wounded.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that Pakistan would not tolerate any infringement on its territorial integrity or sovereignty. He reiterated that every act of aggression against the country would be met with a firm and appropriate response. The Prime Minister praised the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Armed Forces, noting that under the leadership of Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, the military continues to perform its duties with exceptional national spirit and strategic acumen. Equipped with advanced training and a robust defense framework, the armed forces remain fully prepared to counter both internal and external threats to the nation.

Shehbaz Sharif further stressed that Pakistan has always been a proponent of peace in the region, but it will never compromise on its sovereignty. He assured that the armed forces stand ready to confront any hostile actions decisively, with the full backing of the Pakistani people. Echoing these sentiments, President Asif Ali Zardari took to social media to affirm that Pakistan’s commitment to peace and territorial integrity is absolute. He warned that those who mistake Pakistan’s peaceful intentions for weakness will face a strong and comprehensive response, emphasizing that no adversary will be beyond the reach of the nation’s military capabilities.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif also weighed in on the situation, declaring that Pakistan’s patience has reached its limit. He lamented that despite hopes for stability following NATO’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban regime has instead transformed the country into a proxy battleground, allegedly serving Indian interests and providing sanctuary to global terrorist elements. Asif criticized the Taliban for denying fundamental rights to Afghan citizens, particularly women, and highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding efforts to support Afghan welfare, including hosting over five million refugees for decades. He underscored that millions of Afghans continue to live and work in Pakistan, further deepening the ties between the two nations. The Defence Minister concluded by affirming that Pakistan’s armed forces are now delivering a decisive and resolute response to ongoing threats, stressing that this conflict is not foreign but a direct neighborly confrontation.

Meanwhile, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the Taliban’s recent attacks on civilian populations, describing them as a grave miscalculation with serious repercussions. He labeled the nighttime assault as cowardly and unacceptable, praising the military’s swift and professional countermeasures. Naqvi reiterated the nation’s solidarity with its armed forces and warned that Pakistan will not tolerate any threats to its security or innocent civilians. He made it clear that attempts to harm non-combatants will fail and that those responsible will face severe consequences.

Adding to the chorus of condemnation, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry announced that a major operation against the Afghan Taliban regime is underway. He remarked that Pakistan had extended efforts to assist Afghanistan in ways the Taliban themselves failed to do, including multiple rounds of dialogue with Taliban leaders. However, Chaudhry accused the Taliban of harboring malicious intentions, noting that those involved in attacks within Pakistan were targeted and eliminated during recent strikes.

National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq paid tribute to the armed forces for their prompt and effective response to the Taliban aggression. He reiterated Pakistan’s determination to take all necessary measures to maintain regional stability, accusing Afghanistan of acting as a proxy for India and destabilizing peace in the area. Sadiq condemned the nighttime attacks on Pakistani border posts as shameful and cowardly, emphasizing that Pakistan’s longstanding patience and preference for dialogue should not be mistaken for weakness.

Provincial leaders also voiced their support for the military’s actions. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated that while Afghanistan initiated the conflict, Pakistan is prepared to bring it to a conclusion. He highlighted concerns over weapons left behind by the United States in Afghanistan being used against Pakistan and warned that Islamabad will act decisively if the Taliban fail to rein in their forces. Similarly, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the unprovoked firing by Taliban militants and affirmed that Pakistan will defend its territorial integrity at all costs. He stressed that safe havens for terrorists within neighboring Afghanistan will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In summary, Pakistan’s top leadership and government officials have conveyed a unified and firm stance in the face of escalating cross-border violence. The military’s ongoing operations and the government’s diplomatic messaging underscore Pakistan’s resolve to protect its borders and maintain regional stability, while continuing to seek peace but remaining prepared for any eventuality.
