Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Issues Stern Warning to Afghan Taliban After Cross-Border Attacks

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a firm warning to the Afghan Taliban following a series of unprovoked attacks targeting civilian regions within Pakistan. These cross-border strikes, which took place late on the night of Friday, February 26, 2026, have significantly escalated tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, raising serious concerns about the safety and security of residents in the affected areas.

Naqvi strongly condemned the assaults, describing them as a grave miscalculation with potentially far-reaching consequences for regional stability. He emphasized that deliberately targeting civilian populations is not only morally reprehensible but also a violation of international norms and humanitarian principles. The minister highlighted that the attacks were launched under the cover of darkness, a tactic aimed at maximizing harm while evading accountability, which he labeled as both cowardly and unacceptable.

In response to these aggressive actions, the Pakistan Army swiftly initiated a counter-operation named ‘Ghazab Lil Haq,’ demonstrating the country’s resolve to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens. The military’s response was characterized by precision and professionalism, showcasing operational readiness and sending a clear message to hostile elements that any act of aggression will be met with decisive force. Naqvi praised the armed forces for their prompt and effective retaliation, which he said underscored Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peace and security along its borders.

The unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces occurred across multiple locations along the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, particularly affecting communities in close proximity to the frontier. This escalation has not only heightened security concerns but also disrupted daily life for many residents, who now face increased risks due to the ongoing hostilities. The Interior Minister reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to peace but will not tolerate any threats to its territorial integrity or the safety of its people.

It is worth noting that the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan has long been a sensitive and volatile region, with intermittent flare-ups of violence impacting both sides. The recent attacks mark a significant deterioration in relations and underscore the challenges faced in maintaining stability in this strategically important area. The government’s firm stance, as articulated by Naqvi, reflects a broader strategy to deter future aggression and ensure that such incidents do not escalate into larger conflicts.

Moving forward, the Interior Minister called for increased vigilance and cooperation among security agencies to safeguard the border and protect vulnerable communities. He also urged the international community to recognize the dangers posed by such militant activities and support efforts aimed at fostering peace and security in the region. The situation remains fluid, and authorities continue to monitor developments closely to prevent further escalation.
