Pakistan Launches Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, Inflicts Heavy Losses on Afghan Taliban Militants

In a decisive military response to unprovoked aggression from the Afghan Taliban, Pakistan’s armed forces have launched a comprehensive operation named Ghazab lil-Haq. This operation has resulted in the elimination of at least 133 Taliban militants and left more than 200 injured. The swift and effective counteroffensive underscores Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its territorial sovereignty and protecting its citizens from external threats.

The Pakistan Army reported that during the operation, 27 Taliban posts were completely destroyed while nine others were captured. The offensive also saw the destruction of over 36 tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers belonging to the Afghan Taliban. These significant losses forced the militants to retreat hastily, abandoning numerous strategic positions and hideouts along the border. The Pakistan Air Force played a crucial role by conducting targeted airstrikes that demolished key Taliban battalion and sector headquarters, as well as ammunition depots. In a symbolic gesture of reclaiming control, Pakistani forces hoisted their national flag at seven former Taliban posts.

Further elaborating on the operation, the Prime Minister’s spokesperson on foreign media emphasized that Pakistan authorized multiple rounds of counterstrikes in direct response to the Taliban’s unprovoked attacks. These strikes inflicted heavy casualties, with 72 militants killed and over 120 wounded. The spokesperson highlighted the destruction of a large ammunition depot and key Taliban command centers, signaling a crippling blow to the militant infrastructure. The military’s precision targeting of Taliban posts, including the downing of several quadcopters used in attempted attacks, demonstrated enhanced operational capabilities and intelligence coordination.

Security sources revealed that the Afghan Taliban had attempted to use quadcopters for offensive operations, but Pakistani forces successfully intercepted and neutralized all such threats. The selective targeting of Taliban positions reflects a calculated strategy to dismantle militant capabilities while minimizing collateral damage. However, following their battlefield setbacks, the Taliban reportedly shifted tactics by targeting civilian populations, further escalating tensions along the volatile Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In response to these developments, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar reaffirmed the government’s stance that every act of aggression would be met with a firm and resolute counterattack. He condemned the Taliban’s propaganda efforts aimed at distorting the reality of their defeat and warned that such misinformation campaigns would not be tolerated. Tarar described the Taliban’s unprovoked actions as a grave miscalculation, emphasizing that Pakistan’s security forces delivered a decisive and crushing response.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also addressed the situation, expressing confidence in the armed forces’ ability to counter any hostile designs against the country. He reiterated that Pakistan’s military is fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty, peace, and security at all costs. The Prime Minister praised the resilience and readiness of both the armed forces and the Pakistani people in the face of these provocations, underscoring the government’s unwavering commitment to national defense.

Political leaders across the spectrum echoed similar sentiments. Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding hospitality towards Afghan refugees and criticized Afghanistan’s lack of gratitude, pointing to past terrorist attacks on Pakistani soil allegedly linked to Afghan-based groups. Meanwhile, MQM Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui accused the Afghan Taliban of acting as proxies for India, condemning their cross-border attacks and vowing that Pakistan’s territorial integrity would remain inviolable.

Furthermore, Parliamentary Secretary for Information Barrister Daniyal Chaudhary noted the presence of banned militant outfits operating within Afghanistan, stressing Pakistan’s right to self-defense and its desire for regional stability and the eradication of terrorism. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also praised the Pakistani military’s rapid and effective response, saluting the troops for their bravery and determination in repelling the Taliban’s aggression.

The conflict has had a direct impact on civilians as well. Mortar shelling in Bajaur resulted in injuries to five people, including three women, highlighting the human cost of the ongoing hostilities. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting condemned the Taliban’s miscalculation in initiating unprovoked firing along the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa border and reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces would continue to respond decisively to any threats.

In addition to the operations along the border, Pakistani security forces conducted a follow-up sanitization operation in the Zhob district of Balochistan, where they successfully neutralized 10 terrorists. This demonstrates Pakistan’s broader commitment to combating militancy within its borders while maintaining vigilance against external threats.

As the situation continues to evolve, Pakistan remains resolute in its determination to protect its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens. Operation Ghazab lil-Haq stands as a testament to the country’s readiness and capability to respond swiftly and effectively to any form of aggression, sending a clear message to hostile elements that Pakistan will not tolerate violations of its territorial integrity.
