Islamabad Police have issued a traffic advisory for Monday, July 21, 2026, announcing temporary road diversions across several major routes in the federal capital. These measures are being implemented to facilitate the secure movement of foreign delegations visiting the city.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced at varying times on key arteries including the Islamabad Expressway, Srinagar Highway, Jinnah Avenue, Murree Road, and Club Road. Authorities have provided alternative routes to ease commuter inconvenience during these periods.
Specifically, traffic on Srinagar Highway will be redirected between Serena Chowk and the 26 Number Toll Plaza. Drivers are encouraged to use Iran Avenue, Margalla Road, and Jinnah Avenue as substitute paths to bypass the affected section.
Meanwhile, if diversions occur on the Islamabad Expressway between Khayaban Chowk on Faisal Avenue and Rawat T-Cross, motorists should opt for Jinnah Avenue and Ninth Avenue. Travelers departing from Koral are advised to take Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Rawalpindi Murree Road, and Ninth Avenue as alternate routes.
In addition, should the Koral Expressway, Murree Road, or Club Road be temporarily closed, commuters are urged to use Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Rawalpindi Murree Road, and Ninth Avenue to navigate around the closures.
Residents leaving Islamabad are also recommended to travel via Jinnah Avenue, connecting to Ninth Avenue to avoid traffic disruptions.
Authorities have cautioned that these diversions are likely to cause congestion on several routes. Commuters are advised to allocate an extra 20 to 25 minutes to their travel time to accommodate potential delays during this period.
