The offensive, named Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, was launched in direct response to unprovoked attacks by militants who opened fire across multiple sectors along the volatile Pak-Afghan border. These assaults targeted several districts within Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur, regions that have historically faced security challenges due to their proximity to the porous frontier.

In a significant development, the military conducted precision airstrikes targeting key Taliban strongholds, including brigade and corps headquarters located in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktika provinces. These strikes also destroyed an ammunition depot and a logistics base in Kandahar, severely disrupting the militants’ operational capabilities. The clashes resulted in the deaths of at least 72 Taliban fighters, while Pakistan mourned the loss of two security personnel who were martyred during the confrontations. Amid the heightened tensions, several Afghan families who were scheduled for repatriation have been temporarily relocated to a holding center in Landi Kotal, near the Torkham border crossing.
