TTAP Calls for Immediate Medical Transfer of PTI Founder Amid Rising Security Concerns

ISLAMABAD: The opposition coalition, Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP), intensified its call on Thursday for a comprehensive and unified national approach to address the escalating terrorism threat across Pakistan. During a high-level meeting held in the capital, the alliance expressed deep apprehension about the worsening security landscape that has increasingly threatened public safety and stability.

Following the discussions, TTAP released a detailed statement urging the government to develop and implement a robust counter-terrorism framework. The alliance emphasized the importance of building broad consensus, not only among political parties but also within civil society, to ensure that the strategy is effective and sustainable. They warned that without such coordinated efforts, the country risks further deterioration in law and order, which could have far-reaching consequences.

In addition to security concerns, TTAP highlighted the alarming decline in both domestic and foreign investment, which they linked directly to the unstable environment. The alliance criticized the current administration for lacking a clear and actionable plan to navigate the ongoing economic crisis, which continues to impact millions of Pakistanis. They argued that without decisive leadership and transparent policies, the economic situation is likely to worsen, undermining investor confidence and public trust.

Turning to the health situation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan, the TTAP demanded his immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital. They insisted that he be examined by his personal medical team, including Dr. Faisal Sultan and Dr. Asim Yousuf, to ensure proper care. The alliance also called for the removal of restrictions currently imposed on his legal representatives and family members, describing these measures as unjust and detrimental to his well-being.

Expressing grave concern over reports that Imran Khan’s medical records are being withheld from his family, TTAP warned that such “criminal negligence” could dangerously escalate the already tense political climate in the country. They stressed that transparency and timely medical intervention are critical not only for Khan’s health but also for maintaining political stability.

Furthermore, the alliance demanded the immediate release of several prominent political figures, including PTI Vice-Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, and Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, along with all other individuals detained on political grounds. They also voiced worries about the health condition of Sahibzada Hamid Raza, urging authorities to ensure his proper medical treatment without delay.

On the diplomatic front, TTAP called on the government to strengthen and deepen relations with key allied countries such as Saudi Arabia and Turkey. They underscored the importance of Pakistan playing an active and constructive role in regional affairs, particularly in light of rising tensions between the United States and Iran. The alliance cautioned that any potential military conflict could have severe repercussions for regional peace and security, urging Islamabad to engage in proactive diplomacy to help defuse the situation.

Lastly, TTAP criticized the Punjab government’s recent acquisition of a Gulfstream jet for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, labeling it an unnecessary expenditure amid the country’s economic hardships. In response, the alliance announced plans to present an alternative budget proposal, crafted with input from opposition economic experts, aimed at addressing the nation’s pressing financial challenges more responsibly and equitably.
