Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made a solemn visit to Mansehra on Thursday to pay his respects at the residence of Shaheed Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz, a distinguished officer who laid down his life while leading a critical operation against the Fitna al Khawarij terrorists. This heartfelt gesture was aimed at offering condolences to the grieving family and recognizing the ultimate sacrifice made by the officer in defense of the nation.

During his visit, the prime minister personally met with the mother, wife, and children of Lt Col Gul Faraz, expressing his deep sympathies and praying for their resilience in the face of such a profound loss. He acknowledged the immense pain endured by the family and assured them that their sacrifice would never be forgotten by the country. The prime minister’s presence underscored the government’s commitment to stand by the families of martyrs who have given everything for Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.

In addition to visiting the family home, Shehbaz Sharif also paid homage at the grave of the martyred officer. He offered Fateha and prayed for the elevation of Lt Col Gul Faraz’s status in Jannah, invoking blessings for his bravery and dedication. The prime minister highlighted the officer’s courage and leadership, emphasizing that his sacrifice serves as a shining example of valor for the entire nation.

Addressing the significance of the sacrifice, the prime minister remarked that Shaheed Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz’s actions exemplify the highest ideals of patriotism and selflessness. He stressed that the nation remains eternally grateful to its martyrs and their families, who bear the heavy burden of loss with dignity and strength. The prime minister reaffirmed that the government, along with the Pakistan Army, would continue to provide unwavering support to the bereaved family in all respects.

In a significant announcement during the visit, Shehbaz Sharif declared the establishment of a Daanish School in Mansehra, to be named in honor of Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz. This educational institution aims to serve as a lasting tribute to the officer’s legacy, providing quality education and opportunities to the youth of the region. The initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to uplift communities affected by conflict and to invest in the future of Pakistan’s younger generations.

The prime minister’s visit was accompanied by several prominent figures, including Federal Ministers Attaullah Tarar, Engineer Amir Muqam, and Sardar Muhammad Yousuf. Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah, Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar, Murtaza Javed Abbasi, and Shah Ji Gul Afridi also joined the delegation, highlighting the collective respect and solidarity extended by the government and political leadership towards the family of the fallen hero.

This visit and the subsequent announcement serve as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces in the ongoing fight against terrorism. It also reinforces the importance of honoring those who have given their lives to protect the country’s peace and stability, ensuring that their memories inspire future generations to uphold the values of courage and patriotism.
