In a tragic and violent incident that has deeply shaken the Khyber district, a police constable and his seven-year-old son lost their lives in a terrorist attack on Thursday. The constable, Safeer Khan, and his young son Muhammad Talha were targeted by unidentified gunmen outside a hujra in the Sultan Khel area. Both sustained severe injuries in the attack and were immediately rushed to Hayatabad Medical Complex for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Muhammad Talha succumbed to his wounds, and Safeer Khan later died from his injuries, marking a devastating loss for their family and the local community.

District Police Officer Waqar Ahmed confirmed the details of the attack, emphasizing the brutality of the assault. The terrorists opened fire without warning, aiming directly at the constable and his son, who were caught in the crossfire. The police have registered a formal First Information Report (FIR) at the Landi Kotal Police Station, and investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind this heinous act. The attack has sent shockwaves through the area, highlighting the ongoing security challenges faced by law enforcement personnel in the region.

The funeral prayers for Safeer Khan and his son were held in their ancestral village of Sultan Khel, where a large gathering of family members, friends, and local residents paid their respects. The entire community is mourning the tragic loss, with many expressing grief and outrage over the senseless violence. Sultan Khel, known for its close-knit social fabric, has been left in deep sorrow as residents come to terms with the brutal killing of one of their own and his innocent child.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring district of Bannu, another disturbing episode unfolded, further underscoring the volatile security situation in the region. Three brothers, all government employees, were abducted in a brazen attack near the Cantt Police Station area. The incident took place in the Sokari Hassan Khel neighborhood while the brothers were engaged in Isha and Taraweeh prayers at a local mosque. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of ten to twelve armed militants stormed the mosque, showing blatant disregard for the sanctity of the place of worship and the ongoing religious rituals.

The militants forcibly took the three brothers away in a vehicle, ignoring the pleas of those present and the sacredness of the Quran. Tragically, the bodies of two of the brothers were later discovered along a roadside, bearing clear signs of violent and ruthless killings. The fate of the third brother remains unknown, with security forces continuing their search efforts. This act of abduction and murder has left the Bannu community horrified and grieving, raising serious concerns about the safety of civilians and government employees in the area.

These incidents in Khyber and Bannu highlight the persistent threat posed by militant groups in Pakistan’s tribal and border regions. Law enforcement agencies are under immense pressure to enhance security measures and bring the perpetrators to justice. The attacks have also reignited calls from local leaders and citizens for stronger government action to restore peace and protect vulnerable communities from such brutal violence.
