The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has detained a man accused of blackmailing and harassing women by exploiting online spiritual services, officials announced on Tuesday.
The suspect reportedly lured victims by offering online istikhara consultations along with amulets and talismans, gaining their trust before manipulating them. Investigators revealed that he deceived women into sharing indecent photos and private videos, which he then used to extort substantial sums of money.
Authorities have confiscated the suspect’s mobile phone, and forensic experts are conducting a detailed examination to collect additional evidence. A case has been filed against him under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
In a significant development, investigators are actively working to identify and arrest other individuals who may have been involved in facilitating these cybercrimes and online exploitation activities. Officials emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and further arrests remain a possibility.
