Fire Erupts at Two Sites in Islamabad’s Margalla Hills, Containment Efforts Ongoing

A significant fire incident occurred on Friday at two distinct locations within the Margalla Hills National Park, situated near the popular Monal area in Islamabad. The blaze prompted immediate response from firefighting teams who have been actively engaged in efforts to contain the flames and prevent further spread.

Authorities confirmed that one of the fire sites has been successfully brought under control, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the firefighting crews. However, the second site remains a challenge as teams continue to battle the fire, which has been exacerbated by strong winds sweeping across the hillside forest region. These wind conditions have notably accelerated the spread of the fire, complicating containment operations.

Firefighting units from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) have been at the forefront of the response, working tirelessly to manage the situation. Their combined efforts highlight the urgency and seriousness of the incident, given the ecological significance of the Margalla Hills area.

In a positive development, no casualties or damage to property have been reported so far. Officials remain vigilant as they continue to monitor the fire’s progression and implement strategies to fully extinguish the remaining active blaze. The situation underscores the ongoing risk of wildfires in forested urban-adjacent areas, especially under adverse weather conditions.
