Karachi Matric Exams Postponed to April 10 Amid Schools’ Concerns

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations in Karachi have been deferred, with the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) announcing a new start date of April 10, 2026. This change comes after an alliance of private schools demanded a postponement, citing incomplete preparations and organizational challenges.

The coalition expressed concerns regarding the finalization of examination centres, delayed issuance of admit cards, and the pending dispatch of exam materials. In response, the BSEK explained that it is currently transitioning from a manual to a digital system, which caused temporary software overload and disruptions. The board’s IT team is actively working to resolve these technical issues.

In a significant development, the board confirmed that the SSC exams have been rescheduled to ensure they are conducted in a well-organized and transparent manner. A revised timetable will be released shortly, with students expected to take their exams at the centres already allocated to them.

Meanwhile, the private schools’ alliance had previously highlighted the lack of clarity regarding exam centres and other logistical arrangements, urging authorities to delay the exams to prevent any disruption. Despite these concerns, the BSEK maintained that preparations were largely complete, noting that admit cards had been uploaded to its website and sent to private candidates at their home addresses.

Additionally, the board office remained operational, including on Sunday, to assist candidates who had not yet received their admit cards, ensuring support during this transition period.
