Pakistan Endorses World Bank’s Drive to Boost Private Capital in FY2026

Pakistan has expressed strong support for the World Bank’s initiative in fiscal year 2026 aimed at mobilizing private capital to foster development. The government emphasized the World Bank’s commitment to accelerating collaboration with countries and investors to enhance investment flows.

The Ministry of Finance highlighted that these efforts underscore the critical role of private investment in advancing sustainable human capital development, improving livelihoods, and strengthening economies to achieve prosperous growth. Pakistan reiterated its dedication to improving the business climate by ensuring policy stability, enhancing the investment environment, and implementing reforms that encourage private-sector-led expansion.

Furthermore, Pakistan values its partnership with the World Bank and anticipates deepening cooperation to unlock new investment opportunities, mobilize greater private capital, accelerate economic growth, and generate employment. This collaboration is expected to convert development prospects into concrete benefits for the population.

In a significant development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in the market opening ceremony at the London Stock Exchange, where Pakistan’s $3 billion dual-tranche Eurobonds were officially listed. This transaction represents the country’s largest-ever international capital market deal, attracting nearly $6 billion in orders, as noted by the Finance Ministry.

During the event, Prime Minister Sharif invited foreign investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan, emphasizing the government’s commitment to regional peace and security. He assured that safety remains a top priority and pledged a secure environment for investment across various sectors.

The ceremony took place at the London Stock Exchange Group headquarters in Paternoster Square, with CEO David Schwimmer and other senior officials welcoming the prime minister. Sharif’s presence at the event underscored Pakistan’s expanding financial ties with London’s key financial institutions.
