Pakistan Railways introduced an enhanced Safari Train service on Sunday, aiming to revitalize rail tourism and elevate the travel experience for passengers. The revamped train was officially inaugurated by Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi at Rawalpindi Railway Station, highlighting this initiative as part of a larger strategy to modernize the nation’s railway infrastructure.

The Safari Train now includes air-conditioned coaches, upgraded seating arrangements, and a family-friendly atmosphere. It has been redesigned specifically as a tourism-centric service, featuring brief stops at various stations along its route and offering planned recreational activities for travelers. Passengers will also have the opportunity to enjoy longer stays and dining options at picturesque locations such as Attock Khurd.

In a significant development, the minister emphasized that this launch demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving travel comfort while encouraging domestic tourism through railways. He pointed out an increase in passenger occupancy rates, reflecting growing public trust in rail services. Abbasi further explained that the Safari Train is a key component of broader reforms aimed at upgrading railway infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency, and introducing modern amenities throughout the network.

Officials anticipate that this initiative will strengthen Pakistan Railways’ role in the tourism sector by providing travelers with a more convenient and enjoyable journey. Earlier, Minister Hanif Abbasi announced that Pakistan Railways achieved a record daily revenue, the highest in over three decades. He revealed that reforms implemented over the past eight months have significantly boosted daily earnings, driven by both passenger and freight operations.

the minister, Pakistan Railways has been generating nearly Rs300 million per day for the last 15 days. He also noted that the railway system has been fully digitalized nationwide as part of ongoing modernization efforts, positioning the organization on a path toward sustainable growth.
