Polish authorities said they had received information about a possible plot to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz. The claim came in a Sunday social media statement from spokesperson Karolina Galecka, who said the Interior Ministry had ordered steps be taken.
Emergency meeting on the alleged Tusk plot
Galecka added that police, the state protection service and ministry officials would convene an urgent session that day to weigh the situation. Afterwards, special services spokesperson Jacek Dobrzynski told reporters the information was being treated as serious, according to local media. Polsat News also cited him saying further action was agreed, without details.
Unclear origin and email-based threat report
No further details about the alleged plot or its source were immediately released. Private broadcaster Radio Zet reported that police had obtained an email containing information about the threat.
Tusk and Kosiniak-Kamysz, the latter also deputy prime minister, have not yet responded publicly.
