Pakistan on Sunday condemned the latest Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, describing it as an act of terrorism. In a statement, the Foreign Office said Islamabad stands behind Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial integrity.
The Foreign Office said it was troubled by reports of casualties and injuries from the strike, and extended condolences to the families of those affected. Pakistan labelled the assault on a civilian facility a serious act of terrorism, a clear breach of international law and a major danger to peace in the region.
Calls for Houthi halt and firm international response
Islamabad demanded that the Houthi militia stop its attacks immediately. It also urged the global community to take a firm position against any moves that place civilians at risk and weaken stability in the region.
Pakistan further backed Riyadh’s right to defend its land and population, and to protect vital infrastructure from threats and aggression.
Defence pact and Pakistan’s pledge to Saudi sovereignty
The statement pointed to the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence and recent decisions taken by its Strategic, Political and Defence Committee. On that basis, Pakistan said it would keep standing alongside the Kingdom and remain committed to its sovereignty, security and defence.
