The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced on Sunday that internet connectivity has been fully reinstated in Islamabad and Rawalpindi after an outage impacted multiple areas across the twin cities.
The disruption was traced to a fault in an optical fibre cable belonging to a telecom operator, which has since been repaired, allowing services to return to normal.
Earlier, residents in various parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi experienced internet outages, leading to significant inconvenience. The PTA initially reported that a cut in the optical fibre cable caused partial interruptions affecting the networks of several service providers.
Notably, the disruption was confined to certain localities within the twin cities and surrounding regions. Internet services in central and southern Pakistan remained unaffected, although some northern areas also faced connectivity issues.
In a significant development, the PTA’s technical teams worked diligently to fix the damaged fibre cable, with full restoration expected to take several hours. The successful repair has now ensured uninterrupted internet access for users in the affected areas.
