India have added seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar to their T20 squad for the fifth match against the West Indies, after left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was injured. The match in Bengaluru on Saturday will decide a series that the West Indies levelled 2-2 after beating India on Wednesday.
Arshdeep was struck on his bowling shoulder by a bouncer while batting and retired hurt during India’s defeat. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said a decision on whether he will play the final T20I will be made before the game, based on his recovery.
Bhuvneshwar returns after selectors’ backing
The 36-year-old last played an international in 2022, but he has recently found favour with the selectors. He was also named in India’s T20 squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand, which starts this month.
The updated T20I squad is captained by Shreyas Iyer, with Tilak Varma as vice-captain.
