Netflix has acquired the broadcasting rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, a move that means the streaming service will now air sporting events. It is the first time the globally popular platform has bought rights to the men’s football tournament.
The US-based service already holds the exclusive worldwide broadcasting rights for the Women’s World Cups in 2027 and 2031. Its new deal allows it to show the next Men’s World Cup to viewers in Spain and Andorra.
All 104 matches to stream in Spain and Andorra
Netflix will broadcast all 104 matches of the next Men’s World Cup in the two countries. Under the agreement, one match will be shown for free in Spain on each matchday.
A free-to-air television channel in Spain will also show a series of games. These include every match of the Spanish national team, known as “La Furia Roja”, as well as the semifinals and the championship game.
FIFA reaction to the expanded World Cups
FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström said the extended 2026 and 2030 World Cups are expected to be memorable occasions for football fans worldwide. His remarks cover both tournaments as the competition grows.
