Indian batsman Virat Kohli has ascended to second place in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings following his 55th ODI century against the West Indies. Kohli’s unbeaten 139 boosted his rating to 796 points, surpassing New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell.
Meanwhile, India’s Shubman Gill continues to lead the rankings with 816 points, while Mitchell dropped to third with 794 points. Rohit Sharma maintained his fourth position, holding 719 points, which means India boasts three players in the top four spots.
Among Pakistani batsmen, Babar Azam remains the highest-ranked at sixth place, followed by Salman Ali Agha at 14th. Other Pakistani players include Mohammad Rizwan at 31st, Fakhar Zaman at 39th, and Saim Ayub at 43rd.
The update reflects a prolific week in ODI cricket, featuring eight centuries, including a record six scored on September 27. Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis made significant gains, climbing three places to a career-best seventh with 674 points after his 121-run innings in Leeds.
England’s Harry Brook also improved, moving up one spot to 11th with 650 points following his half-century at The Oval, placing him just three points behind Ireland’s Harry Tector.
South Africa’s Temba Bavuma surged ten places to 32nd with 556 points after scoring a century against Australia. His teammate Matthew Breetzke jumped 19 places to 21st with 607 points. David Miller re-entered the rankings at 41st after his 142 off 93 balls in the second ODI against Australia.
In bowling, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj advanced three places to third with 667 points after impressive bowling figures in the first two ODIs against Australia. Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed holds second place with 675 points, while India’s Kuldeep Yadav climbed four spots to fifth with 623 points following his four wickets against the West Indies.
Australia’s Josh Hazlewood also broke into the top 10, rising five places to 10th with 591 points after taking four wickets in two ODIs against South Africa.
These rankings come as teams intensify their preparations for the 2027 Cricket World Cup, highlighting the ongoing competitive spirit and outstanding individual performances across international cricket.
