Murad Saeed in Afghanistan, Rana Sanaullah alleges KP role

ISLAMABAD: Rana Sanaullah, adviser to the prime minister on political affairs, claimed on Wednesday that PTI leader Murad Saeed is currently in Afghanistan, from where he is allegedly directing the affairs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rana described the former federal minister as sitting in Afghanistan and running the provincial government.

Alleged role in Sohail Afridi’s appointment

Rana further alleged that Saeed had a hand in Sohail Afridi’s selection as KP chief minister. He also claimed that the PTI founder had not even been acquainted with Afridi, according to information he said he had received.

Government blames Afridi and Saeed for talks breakdown

The PM’s aide blamed Afridi and Saeed for the collapse of negotiations between the government and PTI. He said the government had negotiated “in complete good faith” and offered the party everything it had demanded. Rana claimed, however, that Afridi and Saeed did not believe in resolving disputes through talks with political figures.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan later questioned the focus on Saeed’s alleged involvement. Speaking at Parliament House, he said the central issue was why the negotiations had collapsed, and asked who had walked away from the table and why. Gohar said both sides had reached the table after considerable difficulty and questioned why the government withdrew over the fourth clause of a five-point draft.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said a day earlier that the government had “all the information” about Saeed and would disclose it.
