Aerial attacks on suspected terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan resulted in the deaths of 22 militants, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced on Thursday.
The ministry described the strikes as “well-planned and precise,” conducted under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, which forms part of the ongoing efforts against terrorist groups, their networks, and supporters.
Based on credible intelligence, the strikes targeted two locations in Afghanistan believed to serve as camps and safe havens for groups identified by Pakistan as Fitna al Khwarij and Fitna al Hindustan, along with their affiliates. The ministry confirmed that the targets were destroyed with accuracy, and initial assessments indicate the elimination of twenty-two terrorists.
In addition to the militants, significant quantities of weapons and ammunition stored at these sites were also destroyed during the operation.
Notably, the ministry emphasized that the strikes were focused exclusively on terrorist hubs, with maximum precautions taken to avoid civilian casualties and collateral damage.
Pakistan reiterated its commitment to regional peace and stability, while underscoring that the safety and security of its citizens remain paramount.
In a significant development, the ministry expressed serious concern over Afghanistan’s ongoing role as a center for terrorism, highlighting the threat posed to Pakistan from across the border.
The counterterrorism campaign under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq, which operates within the broader Azm-e-Istehkam framework, will continue with full intensity. The armed forces and law enforcement agencies remain dedicated to eradicating what is described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism within Pakistan.
