Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar revealed that discussions with key federal officials have been ongoing since the previous night. The party has communicated its concerns regarding the recent arrests of its members and leaders. This development comes as PTI gears up for a nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad scheduled for September 27, demanding the release of its imprisoned founder, Imran Khan, and the enforcement of constitutional supremacy.
PTI has reiterated its commitment to proceed with the planned demonstrations, with mobilization efforts actively underway across the country. Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Barrister Gohar urged the authorities to avoid further arrests, describing the treatment of Imran Khan’s family members and party officials as unfortunate. He cautioned that additional detentions could escalate tensions and stressed the importance of preventing further deterioration of the situation. Gohar also highlighted the urgent need to ease the current strain between the parties involved.
In a related development, following the detention of Aleema Khan, Imran Khan’s sisters Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan were also taken into custody and transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail for a 30-day period. A petition challenging Aleema Khan’s detention has been submitted to the Lahore High Court.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi addressed a press conference in Lahore, announcing that the government plans to implement a permanent strategy to manage the upcoming march. He warned that the country would not tolerate prolonged shutdowns lasting 10 to 20 days due to protests. Naqvi emphasized that decisive measures would be taken to prevent the recurrence of such disruptions.
