AJK Prolongs Ban on Pakistan-Listed Prohibited Political Parties in Elections

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) authorities have decided to continue the ban on political parties that are prohibited in Pakistan from contesting in the region’s elections. This move aims to maintain political stability and prevent the influence of groups deemed a threat to national security. The extension reflects ongoing efforts to align AJK’s electoral framework with Pakistan’s broader security policies.

Notably, the ban targets parties that have been officially listed as prohibited within Pakistan, ensuring that these groups do not gain a foothold in AJK’s political landscape. This decision comes amid concerns over the potential for banned organizations to disrupt the democratic process or incite unrest. By enforcing this restriction, AJK authorities seek to safeguard the integrity of their electoral system.

In a significant development, the extension underscores the importance of coordinated security and political measures between AJK and Pakistan. It highlights the region’s sensitivity to political activities that could impact peace and order. The move is expected to influence the upcoming elections by limiting participation to parties that comply with established legal and security standards.
