Five Civilians Killed in Suicide Blast Near Bannu Police Station

In a tragic incident on Friday in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a suicide attack claimed the lives of at least five civilians, including women and a child, while injuring four others. The attacker, affiliated with the Indian proxy group Fitna Al Khwarij, had intended to target the Domel Police Station but detonated explosives near a civilian residence adjacent to the police facility, causing casualties among local residents.

The victims comprised three women and one child, with the injured promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. Rescue teams, alongside local inhabitants, are actively engaged in relief efforts, clearing debris from the damaged building and assisting those affected by the blast.

Authorities confirmed that robust security arrangements prevented the bomber from reaching the police station itself, although civilians bore the brunt of the explosion. Security forces have sealed off the area and initiated a search and clearance operation to apprehend any accomplices or remaining threats.

Officials emphasized that such militant elements seek to disrupt the peace in Bannu, but ongoing efforts aim to completely eliminate these threats. Operations under the National Action Plan will persist until all terrorist factions are eradicated from the region.

In a significant development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the attack, expressing sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. The National Assembly also observed a prayer (Fateha) in memory of the victims.

Earlier, on March 30, 2026, the Inter-Services Public Relations announced that three militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation in Bannu. The military’s media wing stated that sanitization operations continue to root out any remaining militants, underscoring the commitment to the counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative, which aims to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.
