A man in Karachi was robbed of his car and phone at gunpoint after responding to a buyer who reached him through an online vehicle-sale advertisement.
The victim, Usman, a resident of the Tariq Road area, said he had listed his 2022-model car on an online application. A man then got in touch and set up a time to inspect the vehicle.
How the meeting near Delhi Mercantile Society unfolded
Usman said the suspect asked him to bring the car to a spot near a school in Block 3 of Delhi Mercantile Society. The man showed interest in buying it but asked for a test drive.
According to the victim, the suspect drove to Liberty Chowk, where an accomplice was waiting. The second man got in, and the pair headed towards Sharae Faisal.
Usman alleged that both men pulled out firearms, grabbed his phone and forced him out of the car before driving off with it.
Police case and the complainant’s statement
Police registered a case at Ferozabad Police Station over the incident. The complainant told officers he could identify the suspects if they were brought before him.
The case highlights the risks of meeting unknown buyers through online vehicle-sale platforms. Sellers are urged to take care when arranging private sales and test drives.
