Police in Mirpur, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), arrested a suspect on Tuesday over a TikTok video of a girl that was allegedly posted through a fake account without her consent, a police spokesperson said.
The matter came to light on September 25, 2026, when the victim’s family went to SSP Mirpur Khurram Iqbal and filed a complaint.
Family says the girl was filmed on her way to an academy
The family said their daughter was travelling to an academy with her brother when an unidentified person recorded her and uploaded the clip to a TikTok account. They said the video raised concerns about their privacy and reputation.
SSP Khurram Iqbal ordered the Cyber Crime Unit Mirpur to investigate using modern technical tools and to take legal action in line with the law.
Cyber Crime Unit traces suspect to Islamgarh
The spokesperson said investigators traced the account through technical work and identified the suspect as Essa, son of Afzal, a resident of Bang Rarah in Islamgarh tehsil, Mirpur district. SHO Islamgarh Umair Rasheed and a police team then arrested him.
Further investigation is under way to establish the facts and examine every aspect of the case, the spokesperson added.
Police urge residents to report online abuse
Mirpur police called on residents facing online harassment, unauthorised sharing of videos, fake accounts or online blackmail to report such incidents quickly and keep any evidence.
Police warned that posting photographs or videos of people online without consent could carry serious legal consequences, and stressed respect for dignity, privacy and rights in the digital space.
