Rawalpindi traffic plan for Pakistan-Sri Lanka T20 match

Traffic authorities in Rawalpindi have outlined a series of road diversions and alternative routes for Sunday evening’s second T20 International between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Stadium. The aim is to keep congestion to a minimum across the city and around the venue. More than 315 personnel have been deployed to manage traffic.

Diversions and road closures around the stadium

A traffic police spokesperson said that disruption caused by the teams’ movement would be kept as limited as possible. Vehicles arriving from Islamabad will be redirected from Faizabad onto the Expressway while the teams are on the move. Traffic heading from Rawalpindi toward Islamabad will be diverted in stages at three points.

Stadium Road will be shut completely in both directions between 9th Avenue Chowk and Double Road for the duration of the match.

Parking and live traffic updates for fans

Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam said that three locations had been set aside for parking for cricket fans. He added that updates would be posted on the police’s official social media accounts and shared on radio stations throughout the matches.

Aslam called on residents to cooperate with traffic personnel stationed across the city to keep vehicles moving.
