Authorities in Lahore have detained three individuals in connection with the alleged gang rape of a 22-year-old Azerbaijani woman, confirmed by DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza on Saturday. The incident reportedly occurred inside a flat located in a private housing society in Lahore’s Defence area.
The victim, who had arrived in Pakistan in late September for business purposes, accused the three men of sexually assaulting her after forcing her to consume alcohol. She made these allegations before a judicial magistrate during legal proceedings.
In a related development, a local court in Lahore placed a woman, charged with facilitating the alleged assault, on judicial remand. Judicial Magistrate Azhar Mahmood presided over the hearing and scheduled the accused’s next court appearance for October 17. The woman had been held under a three-day physical remand, which police stated was no longer necessary for the ongoing investigation.
Following the police’s request, the court ordered the woman to be sent to jail on judicial remand, concluding the current phase of custody. The investigation into the case continues as authorities pursue further legal action.
