The soyem ceremony commemorating the life and legacy of Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of HUM Network and one of Pakistan’s most distinguished civil servants, is set to take place in Karachi today. This solemn event will be held between the Asar and Maghrib prayers at Masjid Usman Ghani, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and colleagues to pay their respects and honor his memory.

Earlier this week, Siddiqui’s funeral prayers were conducted on Friday, drawing a large gathering of mourners who remembered him for his immense contributions to the nation. His passing marks the loss of a highly respected figure in both the public administration and education sectors of Pakistan.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui served in several pivotal roles within the Government of Pakistan. He held the positions of Secretary Education and Secretary Finance, showcasing his versatility and expertise in managing critical portfolios. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the Services and General Administration Department, where his leadership helped shape key administrative reforms.

Following his tenure in government service, Siddiqui dedicated himself to advancing education in Pakistan. He assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor at the University of Sindh, one of the country’s premier academic institutions, where he worked tirelessly to enhance academic standards and institutional governance. Furthermore, he chaired the boards of Sindh Madressatul Islam and Quaid-e-Azam Public School, two historic educational establishments known for their commitment to quality learning and social upliftment.

It is also noteworthy that Mazharul Haq Siddiqui was the elder brother of Sultana Siddiqui, the President of HUM Network, further highlighting the family’s deep-rooted involvement in Pakistan’s media and educational landscape. His legacy is remembered not only for his administrative acumen but also for his unwavering dedication to public service and education reform.

As the community gathers today at Masjid Usman Ghani, the soyem will serve as a poignant reminder of Siddiqui’s lifelong commitment to the betterment of Pakistan’s educational framework and governance. His contributions have left an indelible mark on the country, inspiring future generations of civil servants and educators alike.
