Investigation Underway into Karachi Businessman Mir Ali Raza’s Murder

Authorities in Karachi are actively investigating the abduction and subsequent murder of 25-year-old businessman Mir Ali Raza, whose body was discovered in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Raza had left his home early in the morning, assuring his family he would return within ten minutes, but never came back.

The initial report filed by his father at Ferozabad police station states that Mir Ali Raza, an IBA graduate, had returned home from his shop near Bahadurabad Chowrangi on the night of July 28. He then left again in the early hours of July 29. His family insists there were no known enemies or disputes that could explain the incident, while police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding his death.

CCTV footage shows a white vehicle arriving outside Raza’s residence around 4:09 a.m., capturing him entering the back seat before the vehicle departed. Later, police recovered his body from bushes in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Investigators revealed that Raza had been tortured and died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Initial speculation about acid being used was dismissed by medical examiners, who attributed the body’s condition to advanced decomposition, estimating it had been there for over 30 hours.

Further inquiries revealed that after leaving home, Raza booked an online taxi and traveled to the kitchen facility of his dessert bar and restaurant located in a residential area of Gulistan-e-Jauhar. The taxi driver confirmed Raza’s arrival at the kitchen. Police believe the abduction and murder took place after he left this location.

Investigators are pursuing several leads, including the recovery of Raza’s mobile phone, which remains missing. They are collaborating with telecom providers to access his call data records and analyze recent contacts. Notably, Raza’s social media accounts were deactivated hours before his body was found, prompting police to investigate whether this was done by him or through unauthorized access.

Several individuals have been identified and are being questioned, including employees from the kitchen and staff at Raza’s two restaurants. While some suspicions have arisen during interrogations, authorities have withheld details to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation.

The inquiry faces challenges due to limited surveillance coverage. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from private cameras in the vicinity, as there is no comprehensive Safe City surveillance system in the area. Many of the available recordings are of low quality, complicating efforts to trace Raza’s movements and identify suspects.

Authorities continue to combine technical analysis with human intelligence in their investigation, deliberately keeping certain information confidential to avoid alerting potential perpetrators or jeopardizing the case.
