Heightened Security in Karachi and Punjab Following Pakistan’s Retaliatory Strikes on Afghan Ta…

In response to unprovoked attacks by Afghan Taliban forces along the border areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pakistan has launched a significant military operation named ‘Ghazab Lil Haq.’ This decisive action has prompted authorities to elevate security measures across key regions, particularly in Punjab and Karachi, to prevent any spillover of violence and maintain public safety. The move comes amid heightened tensions on the western frontier, where cross-border firing had escalated in recent days.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Rao Abdul Kareem, has issued stringent directives to ensure maximum vigilance throughout the province. Recognizing the sensitive timing of Friday prayers, when large congregations gather in mosques, the IG emphasized the need for reinforced security protocols. Punjab Police personnel have been instructed to intensify monitoring efforts, especially along internal borders, to detect and deter any suspicious activities. Officers are urged to maintain close observation of potential threats, including terrorists and other hostile elements, underscoring the police force’s commitment to stand united alongside the armed forces and other security agencies during this critical period.

Security arrangements have also been bolstered at vital locations such as mosques, police checkpoints, diplomatic missions, and other strategic installations. Authorities continue to conduct thorough search and combing operations aimed at identifying and neutralizing any emerging risks. These proactive measures reflect the government’s resolve to safeguard civilians and maintain law and order amid the ongoing military engagement with the Afghan Taliban.

Meanwhile, in Karachi, the city’s security apparatus has been placed on high alert under the direction of DIG East, Farukh. Recognizing Karachi’s status as a major metropolitan hub, officials have intensified security at sensitive sites and key government buildings. Snap inspections and road blockades have been established on critical thoroughfares to monitor the movement of suspicious individuals and prevent any untoward incidents. The DIG reassured the public that the police force is fully prepared to handle any internal disturbances, reiterating that protecting the nation remains their foremost priority.

Further west, the situation in Balochistan’s Chaman district has also prompted emergency measures. The District Health Officer has declared a state of emergency in all local hospitals, ensuring that medical staff including doctors, nurses, and paramedics remain on standby to respond swiftly to any casualties. Hospitals have been directed to stockpile additional medicines and maintain ample blood supplies, anticipating potential injuries arising from the ongoing conflict. This heightened medical preparedness highlights the gravity of the situation along the border regions.

On the political front, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar announced that Pakistan’s retaliatory strikes have inflicted heavy losses on the Afghan Taliban, with 133 militants reportedly killed and over 200 wounded. The strikes targeted Taliban positions in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar, aiming to disrupt their operational capabilities. Minister Tarar indicated that the military campaign is ongoing, and further casualties may be expected as Pakistan continues its efforts to neutralize threats emanating from across the border.

Adding to the rhetoric, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif accused the Afghan Taliban of acting as a proxy force for India, escalating the conflict into what he described as an “open war.” He warned that Pakistan’s patience had reached its limit, signaling a firm stance against any attempts to destabilize the country. This development marks a significant intensification in the already fragile security dynamics between Pakistan and militant elements operating from Afghan soil.

As the situation unfolds, security agencies across Pakistan remain vigilant, coordinating closely to prevent any escalation within the country’s borders. The government’s swift response and comprehensive security measures underscore its commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining stability amid these challenging times.
