PAF Conducts Targeted Airstrikes on Taliban Strongholds in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has recently executed a series of targeted airstrikes against key Taliban military installations located in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia provinces of Afghanistan. These operations mark a significant escalation in Pakistan’s efforts to counter cross-border militant aggression and disrupt Taliban operational capabilities. The strikes reportedly destroyed several critical Taliban command centers and logistical hubs, delivering a substantial blow to the insurgent group’s infrastructure.

statements from Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, the airstrikes successfully demolished two brigade headquarters in Kabul, alongside the destruction of a corps headquarters and a brigade headquarters in Kandahar. In addition to these command posts, an ammunition depot and a logistics base in Kandahar were also targeted and obliterated. Paktia province saw the destruction of another corps headquarters, further weakening the Taliban’s strategic foothold in the region.

Minister Tarar provided an update early Friday morning, emphasizing that Pakistan’s counterstrikes inside Afghan territory are ongoing and have inflicted heavy casualties and material losses on Taliban forces. He described the operations as a swift and effective response to the recent Taliban attacks along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. These strikes come after a series of unprovoked Taliban attacks targeting Pakistani border posts, which Islamabad has vowed to respond to decisively.

In an exclusive interview with a national television channel, Tarar elaborated on the scale of the damage inflicted, noting that over 80 tanks, artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers were destroyed during the air operations. He characterized these actions as Pakistan’s immediate and robust reaction to Taliban hostility, underscoring the country’s commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and national security.

Furthermore, Tarar condemned the Afghan Taliban regime for disseminating misleading narratives following their losses, accusing Afghan and Indian social media accounts of amplifying false information to distort the reality on the ground. He stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain undeterred by such propaganda and are fully focused on defending the nation against any threats.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid acknowledged the Pakistani airstrikes in a public statement on social media platform X, confirming that targets in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia were hit. This admission highlights the ongoing tensions and the fragile security situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, which continues to be a flashpoint for conflict between the two sides.

These developments come amid a broader context of strained relations between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban, with Islamabad maintaining that it will not tolerate any form of aggression emanating from Afghan soil. The recent airstrikes signify a clear message from Pakistan’s military leadership that it is prepared to take decisive action to neutralize threats and maintain stability along its western frontier.
