TTAP Calls for Imran Khan’s Transfer to Shifa Hospital Amid Political and Security Concerns

The Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) has intensified its calls for the immediate transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, citing urgent medical needs. The alliance emphasized that Khan should be allowed to receive treatment under the supervision of his trusted personal physicians, Dr Faisal Sultan and Dr Asim Yousuf, to ensure proper and transparent medical care. This demand comes amid growing concerns over the health and wellbeing of the former Prime Minister, who has been under detention.

In a detailed statement, TTAP also highlighted the critical issue of restricted access to Khan’s legal representatives and family members. The group condemned the ongoing limitations placed on his communication, describing it as a violation of basic rights and a potential risk to his health. They warned that any further negligence or delay in providing adequate medical attention could exacerbate the already tense political environment in the country, potentially leading to deeper unrest.

Beyond the immediate health concerns, the alliance expressed serious apprehension regarding the government’s handling of medical information related to Imran Khan. They accused authorities of withholding crucial medical reports from the public and Khan’s close circle, raising questions about transparency and accountability. In addition to focusing on Khan’s situation, TTAP demanded the release of all political detainees, explicitly mentioning Sahibzada Hamid Raza, underscoring the broader issue of political imprisonment in Pakistan.

Turning to national security matters, TTAP voiced alarm over the surge in terrorist activities, particularly in the provinces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The alliance urged the government to formulate and implement a comprehensive and effective national counterterrorism strategy to address these escalating threats. They stressed that without a coordinated approach, the security situation could deteriorate further, impacting the stability of the entire country.

Furthermore, the statement drew attention to Pakistan’s worsening socio-economic conditions, pointing out that poverty levels have reportedly climbed to 29 percent, accompanied by rising unemployment rates. TTAP criticized the government’s failure to tackle these pressing economic challenges, which have left millions vulnerable and disillusioned. The alliance also expressed concern over international developments, particularly the possibility of US military action against Iran and the increased deployment of American naval and military forces in the Middle East, which could have regional repercussions affecting Pakistan’s security landscape.

In conclusion, TTAP reiterated its warning that neglecting Imran Khan’s health and the broader political crisis could have severe consequences for Pakistan’s stability. The alliance called on the government to adopt comprehensive economic reforms and legal measures to address the country’s multifaceted challenges. They emphasized that transparent governance, respect for human rights, and a strategic approach to security are essential to navigate the current turbulent period.
