Hillary Clinton Denies Knowledge of Jeffrey Epstein in Congressional Testimony

In a significant development surrounding the ongoing investigations into Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal network, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared before a congressional committee on Thursday. During her closed-door deposition in Chappaqua, New York, Clinton firmly stated that she does not recall ever meeting Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender. She also asserted that she has no information related to his illegal activities, distancing herself from the scandal that has implicated numerous high-profile figures.

Clinton’s statement, submitted to the House Oversight Committee ahead of her testimony, emphasized that she never flew on Epstein’s private plane, nor did she visit any of his properties, including his infamous island, residences, or offices. This declaration came amid heightened scrutiny of Epstein’s extensive social and political connections, which have drawn attention from lawmakers and the public alike. Her clear denial aimed to dispel any rumors or assumptions about her involvement with Epstein’s illicit operations.

Meanwhile, Clinton criticized the Republican-led committee for what she described as an attempt to divert focus from President Donald Trump’s previous associations with Epstein. She highlighted that the Trump administration had significantly weakened a State Department office dedicated to combating international sex trafficking, suggesting a lack of commitment to addressing such crimes at the federal level. This accusation added a political dimension to the inquiry, reflecting the broader partisan tensions surrounding the Epstein case.

Initially, both Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton had resisted calls to testify before the committee. However, they eventually agreed after lawmakers threatened to hold them in contempt of Congress for non-compliance. Bill Clinton is scheduled to appear before the committee on Friday, where he is expected to respond to questions regarding his interactions with Epstein. Notably, Bill Clinton has acknowledged flying on Epstein’s private jet multiple times in the early 2000s, though he has consistently denied any wrongdoing and expressed regret over his association with Epstein.

James Comer, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee, rejected claims that the investigation was politically motivated. He clarified that, at this stage, no accusations of misconduct have been directed at the Clintons. The committee’s focus remains on examining any potential connections Epstein may have had with the Clintons’ charitable activities, as well as any links to Epstein’s convicted associate, Ghislaine Maxwell. Comer also revealed that Epstein had visited the White House on 17 occasions during Bill Clinton’s presidency, underscoring the depth of Epstein’s access to powerful circles.

Democratic Representative Robert Garcia called for further scrutiny, urging that President Trump and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick also be summoned to testify. Lutnick has admitted to visiting Epstein’s private island, despite previously claiming to have severed ties with the financier years earlier. This development adds another layer to the complex web of relationships surrounding Epstein.

Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in a federal jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. His death did not halt the investigations, which have since uncovered a vast network involving numerous influential individuals from politics, business, and society. The US Justice Department has released over three million pages of documents related to Epstein, exposing connections to figures such as Howard Lutnick and Tesla CEO Elon Musk. These revelations have also spurred international probes, including inquiries in the United Kingdom involving Prince Andrew, the former Duke of York, and other prominent personalities.

While President Trump had social interactions with Epstein during the 1990s and early 2000s, prior to Epstein’s 2008 conviction, Chairman Comer stated that the evidence collected so far does not implicate Trump in any criminal wrongdoing. The committee continues to sift through the extensive documentation to determine the full extent of Epstein’s network and any potential complicity among those connected to him.

Transcripts of the Clintons’ testimonies are anticipated to be released to the public, providing greater transparency into the congressional inquiry. As the investigation progresses, the nation remains attentive to how these revelations might impact the reputations and legal standings of the many high-profile individuals entangled in the Epstein saga.
